Jouons la controverse !®

A participatory workshop to orient yourself in the public debate on sufficiency

What is it about?

What is sufficiency? Who is talking about it, and what for? Between socio-economic transformation and green growth, you’ll discover all the discourses involved in the controversy surrounding sufficiency, to better understand what’s at stake.

Inspired by the Fresk pedagogy, this workshop is based on a set of documents synthesized and illustrated on cards:
using this card set, you’ll unravel the controversy collectively, to build your own informed opinion.

Why approaching the issue of sufficiency through controversy?

My general philosophy in my climate change training sessions and awareness workshops is not to convince people that one solution is better than another for a given problem. Instead, I aim to encourage individuals and organizations to reflect on what is most suitable for their situation and what is possible given the broader context (economic situation, political choices, etc.).

From this perspective, Jouons la controverse ! (Let’s play controversy!) aims to:

  • Explore a range of possible solutions and identify the drivers and barriers to collective action by analyzing the different dimensions of the problem (scientific and technical, socio-economic, political, etc.).
  • Position yourself and form an informed opinion by considering all the stances within the controversy.
  • Better interpret a public debate involving scientific facts: learn to identify the stakeholders, the issues, and the knots of the controversy.
